Boys golf championship: Gainesville finished Day 1 in sixth

GAINESVILLE, Ga. — On Monday, the Gainesville boys golf team finished Day 1 tied for sixth place in the Class 6A state championship at Chattahoochee Golf Club. 

The Red Elephants' 318 team score is 24 strokes behind leader Blessed Trinity, who turned in a Day 1 best 294. Roswell is in second place, five strokes behind BT. 

Individually, Gainesville's Henry Kopydlowski echoed a two-over 74. He's four strokes off the lead behind BT's Josh Durthaler and Lakeside Evans' Hamilton Coleman. Both turned in a 70.
