A female student at Cobb County's Kennesaw State University is murdered over the weekend, and a suspect is in custody.

Multiple sources have identified the victim of Saturday afternoon's shooting as 21-year old KSU senior Alasia Franklin of Cairo. Investigators in Cobb County say the suspected shooter, 21-year old Samuel Harris of Cairo was detained shortly after the 4:00 p.m. murder near the campus's Austin Residence Complex on Campus Loop Road.

KSU officials say Franklin was the founder of the school's Integrated Health Science Club, and was active in other school organizations.

Harris faces several charges in Cobb County, including murder, aggravated assault and possession of a firearm during a crime.  Details on what led to the shooting have not been released.
