Commuters in northeast Georgia will be seeing a slight bit of relief at the gas pumps this week, heading into the middle of May.
The AAA of Georgia says statewide, Georgians are paying an average price of $3.41 per gallon for regular unleaded gasoline. Monday's state average is 5 cents less than a week ago, 1 cent less than a month ago, and 15 cents more than this time last year.
AAA Spokeswoman Montrae Waiters says, “Crude oil continues to trend under $80 a barrel, and demand appears to have slowed down, contributing to lower pump prices." The current drop in prices is the first statewide average drop in nearly one month.
Commuters in Hall County should see an average price of $3.35 for regular unleaded gasoline, with the lowest average price in northeast Georgia, as of Monday, found in Hart and Stephens counties at $3.33 per gallon. The highest average price in the area is in White County, at $3.45 per gallon.
Nationwide, the average price for regular unleaded gas currently sits at $3.62 per gallon. To see more details from AAA's website on gas prices, click here.
