FLOWERY BRANCH, Ga. — Cherokee Bluff will see if it can continue to make history on Saturday.

The Bears will open a best-of-three semifinal series with Holy Innocents' at 1 p.m. in the Class 4A playoffs at Bluff Ballpark looking for their first-ever trip to the state championship series. They are a perfect 6-0 in the playoffs after home sweeps of Woodland-Stockbridge, Cedartown, and Wayne County in the first three rounds.

Cherokee Bluff (30-4) is the Region 8-4A champion and comes in tied for the most wins in Class 4A and riding a 14-game win streak.. They have been pummeling their opposition, averaging 10.1 runs/game (144 total runs) during the win streak while getting enough solid pitching, allowing just 3.16 runs/game on the mound in the playoffs, to put themselves just two wins from a spot in next week's finals.

Holy Innocents’ is the No. 2 seed from Region 6-4A and has caught fire in the playoffs after a mediocre regular season, going 6-1 so far in the postseason. The Golden Bears (21-12) knocked off Troup in three-games in the quarterfinals, getting a 5-0 win in Game 3 to secure the series win. They are averaging 7.71 runs/game in the playoffs and are yielding just 3.42 runs/game on the mound in the 2024 playoffs.

Holy Innocents' is no stranger to road series against a region champion, having also knocked off Region 5-4A champ Lovett in the 2nd round in a two-game sweep on the road.

After capturing their first-ever region title last month (pictured here) the Cherokee Bluff baseball team will take on Holy Innocents' in a three-game series beginning Saturday at Bluff Ballpark with a shot at advancing to their first-ever state championship series next week.
