Gainesville's Arts Council to open Summer Music Series next Saturday

Gainesville-based organization The Arts Council is set to kick off its Summer Music Series next weekend with a performance by an Atlanta-based band.

The Black Gold Orchestra will be performing on Saturday, May 18 at the Smithgall Arts Center on Spring Street near the downtown square. The 19-piece band was founded in 2021 by Grammy-nominated producer Larry Wilson and has worked with some big names in music and entertainment including Stevie Wonder, Prince, Tyler Perry and Usher.

A release by The Arts Council touted the group's debut album "Genesis" a fusing several musical elements including jazz, R&B, soul, hip-hop, rock, blues and gospel.
