ACWORTH, Ga. — The Gainesville boys golf team bested the eight-team field in the Class 6A sectionals at Bentwater Golf Club to secure a spot in the state championships on Tuesday.
Big Red beat Blessed Trinity by 12 strokes to take the sectional win.
Henry Kopydlowski and Shay Mangalat turned in an even-par 70 to lead the Red Elephants.
Brigham Ralston finished with a 79 and Nicklaus Greene with an 80.
The state championships will be held at Chattahoochee Golf Club on May 20.
In girls action, Habersham Central placed third to qualify for the state championships at Bentwater Golf Club on Tuesday.
Addie Maney led the Lady Raiders with a 95, followed by Ava Caudell with a 97, and Madison Laprade shot a 99.
The girls championships will be held at Apple Mountain Golf Course in Clarkesville on May 20.
