Forsyth County emergency services received calls about a crash involving a motorcycle and a sport utility vehicle on Friday, April 26th just before 8:30 p.m.

The motorcycle, a 2021 Harley Davidson Street Glide operated by 38-year-old Daniel Ericksen of Gainesville, was traveling east on Dawsonville Highway.

He was behind two passenger vehicles as he approached the intersection of Crystal Cove Trail and Westbrook Rd. where he then entered the left turn lane at a high rate of speed to pass the two vehicles.

While Ericksen was in the left lane, a Ford Expedition started to cross Dawsonville Highway from Crystal Cove Trail on to Westbrook Road.

The motorcycle then struck the SUV which caused Ericksen to be thrown from the bike.

Multiple witnesses attempted to render aid to Mr. Ericksen however he was pronounced deceased at the scene.

This case remains under investigation by the Traffic Specialist Unit.
