Early voting starts today for the May 21 primary elections in Georgia.

Voters who wish to cast their ballots before election day will have three weeks to do so, with the last day of early voting set for May 17.

There are several contested primary races at both the local, state and federal levels. Contested sheriff's primaries are being held in Hall, Gwinnett, Jackson, Lumpkin, Towns and White counties, along with a primary for Georgia State Senate District 49 between Republicans Drew Echols and Josh Clark.

Incumbent county commission chairs are also facing primary challenges in Hall, Gwinnett and Habersham counties, and a non-partisan city council race will be held in the city of Gainesville to fill the seat left vacant by the passing of former councilman George Wangemann.

Also, voters in northeast Gwinnett County will be voting on whether or not to incorporate the city of Mulberry.

A full list of contested races in the region can be found on the AccessWDUN Voters Guide.
