It's the final weekend of April, and there are plenty of ways have some spring fun around Northeast Georgia.

FESTIVALS AND EVENTS:

Event Name:  Gainesville Hall Dragon Boat Challenge
Event Date & Time: Saturday, April 27, 8 a.m. 
Event Location: Clarks Bridge Road, Gainesville
Event Details: This event by Lanier Canoe and Kayak Club is allowing anyone to come be a part of Dragon Boat racing – and no previous experience is necessary! It’s perfect for team building and you will help the Special Olympics team as they practice. Check it out at https://lanirecanoekayak.squadfusion.com.

Event Name: Third Annual East Forsyth Band’s Car Show
Event Date & Time: Saturday, April 27, 9-12 a.m.
Event Location: East Forsyth High School, Jot ’Em Down Road, Gainesville  
Event Details: This car show will support the high school’s band, providing instruments and uniforms for the program. Spectators are free and it’s just $25 to enter your car. All cars are welcome! This family-friendly event will include awesome cars, good food, raffle prizes and you get to support your local students!

Event Name: Bowen 15th Annual Spring Festival
Event Date & Time: Saturday, April 27, 9 a.m. – 3 p.m.
Event Location: Bowen Center for the Arts, Highway 9, Dawsonville
Event Details: Shop for unique gifts in historic downtown Dawsonville. Vendors and artisans will be selling their creations at this spring festival. 

Event Name: Army Ranger Open House
Event Date & Time: Saturday, April 27, 11 a.m. – 5 p.m. 
Event Location: Camp Frank D Merrill, Dahlonega   
Event Details: This event is free and open to the community. It’s fun for kids or those who enjoy watching our military in action. Guests will see demonstrations of hand-to-hand combat, military skydiving, battle simulations and highlights of survival skills and mountaineering. Event Name: Braselton Antique & Artisan Festival 
Event Date & Time: Friday, April 26, 12-6 p.m. and Saturday, April 28, 9 a.m. – 6 p.m., Sunday, April 29, 10 a.m. – 5 p.m.
Event Location: 115 Harrison St., Braselton  
Event Details: It’s the 20th anniversary of this art festival! With over 350 vendors, downtown Braselton transforms into a one-of-a-kind artisan market. You’ll find artwork, hand crafted items, antiques, clothing, jewelry and more. There will be 12 food trucks, adult beverages, ice cream and snow cones. There will also be live music! This festival was named one of the top 5 festivals in Georgia. 

Event Name: Old Clarkesville Market Spring and Holiday Craft Shows
Event Date & Time: Saturday, April 27, 9 a.m. – 4 p.m.
Event Location: Habersham County Fairgrounds Pavilion, Clarkesville
Event Details: This event is free to the public. Not only will local artists be selling their arts, crafts, home décor, artisan food items and more, but there will be an art competition, a petting zoo, and food trucks. Event Name: Duluth Spring Arts Festival
Event Date & Time: Saturday, April 27, 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. 
Event Location: Main Street, Duluth
Event Details: Over 125 artists will present their items for you to browse, enjoy and take home. Sculptors, glass blowers, leather and metal workers, jewelry makers and more will all have their art on display. This event also features a children’s area, local food vendors, art demonstrations and live acoustic entertainment. Visit www.affps.com for more information.

Event Name: Touch-A-Truck
Event Date & Time: Saturday, April 27, 10 a.m. – 1 p.m.
Event Location: Cumming City Center, Cumming  
Event Details: Bring kids who are curious about sirens and sounds and trucks and cars! There will be dump trucks, police cars, fire trucks & more. 

Event Name: Gwinnett Kids Expo
Event Date & Time: Saturday, April 27, 9 a.m. – 2 p.m. 
Event Location: Gwinnett County Fairgrounds, Lawrenceville
Event Details: Kids of all ages will enjoy face painting, fun with LEGOs, book mobile, food trucks, activities and more. This event is free and the first 300 kids will receive a free kids bag. There will be giveaways, games and vendors with lots of information on resources for those with children, from healthcare to summer camps to entertainment and more. 

Event Name: The Lawrenceville Boogie Music and Arts Fest
Event Date & Time: Saturday, April 27, 9 a.m. – 10 p.m.
Event Location: Downtown Lawrenceville Square, Lawrenceville
Event Details: This block party will have live music on 3 different stages, a car show and good food. Go to www.downtownlawrencevillega.com. Free for the whole community.

Event Name: Skate the City
Event Date & Time: Sunday, April 28, 1 – 4 p.m. 
Event Location: The Midland Greenway, Gainesville
Event Details: Hosted by Downtown Gainesville and Explore Gainesville, the community is invited! Bring your skate boards, roller skates, roller blades, bikes, scooters, strollers…anything that has wheels (but no motor!). The event will be around the retention pond. This is a great way to explore one of Gainesville’s newest greenspace destinations. Free and open to the community. 

THEATER PRODUCTIONS:

Event Name: Bonnie & Clyde
Event Date & Time: Friday, April 26 – Sunday, April 28, through May 12 (weekends only), 7:30 p.m.   
Event Location: Holly Theater, Dahlonega
Event Details: Enjoy the adventures of Bonnie and Clyde live on stage at the Holly Theater. Get your tickets online at www.hollytheater.com

Event Name: Steel Magnolias
Event Date & Time: Friday, April 19 – Sunday, April 21, Friday, April 25 – Sunday, April 28, various times
Event Location: FoCAL Center, Cumming
Event Details: The setting is a beauty salon in Louisiana. The characters include the outspoken one, the local social leader, the rich curmudgeon, the eccentric millionaire and the daughter, Shelby who is about to marry a local boy. Event Name: The Little Mermaid
Event Date & Time: Now through Sunday, April 28, Various Times
Event Location: Habersham Central High School
Event Details: Students of Habersham Central High School are presenting, “The Little Mermaid.”

Event Name: Footloose, The Musical
Event Date & Time: Friday, April 26 and Saturday, April 27, Various Times, (Also May 3 & 4th) 
Event Location: NoFo Stage, Cumming
Event Details: NoFo Stage is the North Forsyth High School Booster Club from Forsyth County Schools. This performance is from the Oscar and Tony-nominated Top 40 score with dynamic new songs. “Footloose” celebrates a generation and a movement, as well as a well-known movie and musical production.

Event Location: Laurel Park, Gainesville

Event Name: Hall County Farmers Market

Event Name: Amicalola Regional Farmers Market

Event Details: This Saturday is opening day of the Farmers Market in Dawsonville! It’s open every Saturday now through October 19th!
