WDUN and its parent company, Jacobs Media Corp., cut the ribbon Wednesday on the radio station's new broadcast studio located on the Gainesville Square.

The studio is located on the first floor of the Gainesville Renaissance building on Spring Street SE, adjacent to Kilwins. The ribbon cutting comes as Jacobs Media Corp. celebrates its 75th anniversary.

This move brings the station back to its roots, as it initially first went live on April 2, 1949, in a downtown building just steps from the new location.

The station's live shows, including "Mornings on Maine Street," “The Martha Zoller Show,” “Drive at 5,” “Home Matters” and “Home Grown" are now all being broadcast from the new location.

Community members attended Wednesday's event, which featured treats, tours and a ribbon cutting.

"I hope that the young generation of this community will stay, and I hope that being young, seeing what's going on with this building, that we can continue to grow for the next 75 years," John Jacobs, IV, director of digital strategy at JMC said at the event.

Bill Maine, executive vice president and general manager of JMC, said he was excited to be in the new space.

"It's just great to get here in the morning and watch the Gainesville square come to life," Maine said.

Doug Ivester, owner of the Gainesville Renaissance, said the addition of WDUN marks the opening of all of the retail/business space in the building.

"I don't view today as the endpoint," Ivester said. "I view today as the launch pad for the rest of the square launching the renaissance."

Governor Brian Kemp, Senator Raphael Warnock and Senator Jon Ossoff all sent messages to WDUN as it celebrates its 75th year. Those videos can be viewed by clicking here.
