A driver was seriously injured after a two-vehicle wreck Tuesday morning on U.S. 441 in Habersham County.

The Georgia State Patrol said the wreck happened at about 8 a.m. on U.S. 441 at the road's intersection with Turkey Crest Road.

A preliminary investigation by the agency determined a Ford Escape was stopped at the intersection on Turkey Crest Road, while a tractor-trailer was driving north on U.S. 441.

The driver of the Ford allegedly failed to yield while entering the roadway, causing the tractor-trailer to collide with the vehicle.

Habersham County Emergency Services responded to the scene. The driver of the Ford was airlifted due to suspected serious injuries.

Both directions of U.S. 441 were closed until the helicopter cleared the scene.

The Georgia State Patrol is continuing to investigate.
