According to the Atlanta Braves X account, right-handed pitcher Spencer Strider underwent surgery on Friday “to repair the ulnar collateral ligament in his right elbow with internal brace,” the post stated at 9:30 a.m. Saturday morning.
ESPN, CBS Sports, Yahoo Sports, and Bleacher Reports all reported the same information.
The procedure was performed by Dr. Keith Meister in Arlington, TX. He will miss the remainder of the 2024 season.
Strider made just two starts in 2024, pitching nine innings, allowing 10 hits and 5 walks and striking out 12. He gave up seven earned runs (7.0 ERA).
There was no word on a timetable for his return. Spring training for the 2025 season will begin in mid-February, which gives him 10 months of recovery time.
