A man accused of murdering a Gainesville father in Buckhead in 2022 was found dead Thursday morning at the Fulton County Jail following an apparent suicide.

Travis Landrey, 20, was accused of killing Christopher Eberhart, 57, in October 2022. Eberhart was at a job site in Buckhead and waiting for work to begin when he was shot and killed.

Landrey was arrested shortly after that incident after he was located in Alabama.

The Fulton County Sheriff's Office said in a statement to AccessWDUN Thursday that Landrey was found unresponsive in his cell at the Rice Street Jail.

"Lifesaving measures were performed by jail and medical staff but were unsuccessful and Landrey was pronounced deceased," the statement said.

The Atlanta Police Department is conducting an investigation and the Fulton County Medical Examiner's Office will perform an autopsy. The preliminary cause of death for Landrey is suicide.

A second suspect, Braylon Espree, was also arrested in that case in 2022.
