Hall County Fire Rescue crews battled a large barn fire Monday afternoon in South Hall County.

HCFR Public Information Officer Kimberlie Ledsinger said crews responded at around 4:48 p.m. to the 4700 block of Bennett Road to reports of a barn fire.

“Witnesses stated that there was a large black plume coming from the area prior to HCFR arrival,” Ledsinger said in an email.

Crews found the barn fully engulfed in flames. They began to attack the exterior, on the bulk of the fire.

The building contained farming equipment and bales of hay.

The bulk of the fire has been extinguished but HCFR crews are still on the scene to smolder remaining hotspots.

No one was injured in the fire and no one was inside the barn when the fire broke out.

The Fire Marshal’s Office determined the cause to be accidental, from a small burn pile that was within 50 feet of the building.
