ORIGINAL STORY:

A driver suffered serious injuries after authorities say they struck a parked trailer on a ramp of Interstate 985 Friday afternoon.

A report from the Georgia State Patrol issued Saturday morning said the wreck happened on the southbound on-ramp to the interstate at the Candler Road/Queen City Parkway exit in Gainesville. Officials said a Freightliner truck with a 53-foot trailer was parked on the right shoulder of the ramp when a Nissan Armada failed to maintain its lane and hit the left rear side of the trailer.

The driver of the Armada, whose name has not been released, was taken from the scene to Northeast Georgia Medical Center in Gainesville with what the state patrol called serious injuries.

No charges have been announced as of Saturday morning. The southbound on-ramp of the interstate was shut down for around an hour while officials worked the scene.
