Two men arrested after authorities seize $23K worth of drugs in Hall, White counties

Two men were recently arrested in Hall and White counties after they were found with about $23,000 worth of illegal drugs.

The Georgia Bureau of Investigation identified the two suspects in a press release as Travis Sims, 49, of Gainesville, and Derrance Damon, 43, of Cleveland.

The two were arrested following a joint investigation by the Georgia Bureau of Investigation Appalachian Regional Drug Enforcement Office, DEA Atlanta, ATF, the White County Sheriff’s Office, the Hall County Sheriff’s Office, the Gainesville Police Department, and the Georgia State Patrol Gainesville Post.

Sims was arrested on March 28 and charged with trafficking of fentanyl, trafficking of cocaine, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, and sale of cocaine. Damon was also arrested and charged with trafficking of fentanyl, possession of crack cocaine with intent to distribute, and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.  

The arrests came after a three-month investigation, which culminated with the execution of search warrants at a home in the 4000 block of Post Road in Cleveland and a storage unit in Gainesville.

The drugs had an estimated street value of $23,000.

The GBI said the investigation was ongoing and more arrests are anticipated.
