A Lakemont man is facing charges in Rabun County for allegedly filing false reports of terroristic social media threats from his soon-to-be former wife.
Sheriff Chad Nichols' Office posted on Facebook that Kevin Gragg, 41, was arrested Thursday afternoon for violation of the Family Violence Order and false reports of a crime. The charges stem from claims Gragg made in mid-February of 2024 as he told Rabun County deputies he received several direct messages on his Facebook account from an account held by his soon-to-be former wife, Krissi Gragg.
Rabun County officials requested warrants be served with Facebook and Verizon Wireless to find the claims, only to learn through additional interviews that the messages were fake and created just days before the alleged threats were sent.
Investigators found that the account's creator has ties to Kevin Gragg, and that cell phone used to create the profile and false claims was used within a short distance of his home. It was also determined the account's creator had several ties to Kevin Gragg.
During the six-week investigation, Rabun County officials also learned that Kevin Gragg attempted to make contact with Krissi Gragg three times despite the presence of an active restraining order.
