Habersham County E-911 staff awarded at Georgia Emergency Communications Conference

Habersham County E-911 received several awards last week at the Georgia Emergency Communications Conference in Athens.

Rob Moore Public Information Officer for Habersham County said Director Lynn Smith received the Communications Director of the Year Award. The award is given to the person who performs the duties of the director.

The award also recognizes accomplishments in encouraging, motivating and supporting employees.

Habersham County Radio Systems Administrator Tom Priddy was awarded the Leadership in Service Award which is presented to an individual employed within the Communications Center in recognition of their outstanding service and dedication to the agency.

Moore said Kenny Williams, Summer Anderson, Liberty Garrett, Peyton Myers, Nadia Newsome and Tasha Salas were named Communications Team of the Year.

The award is given to a group of communications officers for exemplary handling of a specific 9-1-1 emergency or other situation that involves the coordination of multiple public safety responses and other emergency resources.

The children of Habersham County Emergency Services employee Joshua Garret, Caleb and Madison,  received the Georgia Peach Award. They called 911 for help when their brother suffered a possible life-threatening situation.

“We are so proud of all these award recipients,” Habersham County Manager Alicia Vaughn said. “We are confident we have the best employees in the state and these awards again demonstrate our team’s level of commitment to excellence for our citizens.”

Habersham County E-911 Director Lynn Smith is honored as the Communications Director of the Year.
