The Hall County Sheriff's Office arrested a Gainesville woman on Wednesday night after she allegedly threatened two Hall County firefighters who responded to the scene of a crash.
Hall County Sheriff's Office Spokeswoman B.J. Williams said Melani Lynne Stein, age 27, was driving a vehicle alone on Clarks Bridge Road near North Browning Bridge Road at around 10:30 p.m. Stein reportedly drove off the side of the roadway, driving through a fence and striking a tree.
Emergency personnel responded to the crash and as the two firefighters tried to help Stein out of her vehicle, she allegedly grabbed a loaded pistol from the passenger seat and pointed it at them. Williams said she dropped the pistol without firing it.
Stein was taken to a local hospital for evaluation before being taken to the Hall County Jail. She has been charged with two felony counts of aggravated assault, DUI drugs less safe, driving too fast for conditions, failure to maintain lane and duty to stop upon striking fixture.
Stein remains in the Hall County Jail without bond.
