The Hall County School District recently honored students from various high schools for their achievements at GHSA State Literary Meets.
Hall County Schools Director of Communications and Athletics Stan Lewis said Colton Hewell, who attends East Hall High School was the state runner-up for boys solo in the 4A State Tournament. He earned a score of 98 out of 100.
Chestatee High School earned several victories in the 4A Literary State Competition.
In the trio category, Payton Whitaker, Sydney Green and Madison Ladd clinched the title of State Champions.
Parker Abbott and Dena Short were named the State Champions in Duo Interpretation.
The accomplishments of the students earned Chestatee High School a fourth-place team finish.
Flowery Branch High School earned second place overall at the GHSA 5A State Literary Meet.
Mason Lyon was named State Champion in Boys Solo. Caroline Castle claimed the title in Comedic Interpretation.
Flowery Branch students earned podium finishes including Ben Roberts in Essay (second place - Literary Analysis), Reese Brumbelow, McKennah Korab and Emily Mavis (second place-Girls Trio) and Kasey Hulsey, Carter Rowlett, Nick Simela and Mason Lyon (second place Boys Quartet).
Miranda Benitez earned third place in girl's solo, while Eliza Brooks and Ace Eason claimed third and fourth place respectively in the Essay category (Personal Essay and Argumentative Essay).
"The dedication and talent displayed by our students in the State Literary Meets are truly commendable,” Superintendent Will Schofield said. “Their achievements reflect the excellence of our schools and the unwavering support provided by our instructors. The fine arts are alive and well in the Hall County School District.”
