An Atlanta man is dead after police say he and another man shot each other in an apartment near Duluth Thursday night.

Gwinnett County Police Corporal Ryan Winderweedle said officers were called to The Paramount apartment complex off of Sattelite Boulevard just before 8:00 p.m. to a report of a person shot.

"A caller stated that he had been shot by somebody that was inside his apartment and that he had shot that person back," Winderweedle said. "When officers arrived, they found two males that were suffering from gunshot wounds."

Both of those men were taken to a nearby hospital. One of the men, identified as Faisal Nortey, age 29 of Atlanta, later died. Police said the other man is in critical but stable condition.

Winderweedle said little is known at this time about what led to the shooting.

"There are no other outstanding parties that were involved in this particular incident," Winderweedle said. "It was just these two males that were inside of an apartment and some kind of altercation or argument took place where one of them started shooting at the other."

Anyone with information on the case is asked to contact Gwinnett police by calling 770-513-5300 or by submitting an anonymous tip to Crime Stoppers of Greater Atlanta.
