One Northeast Georgia school system is already making plans with their leadership roles for the next school year.

Kaycie Rogers has been approved by the Jackson County Board of Education as the new assistant principal for Gum Springs Elementary School, effective this July.

A release this week from the Jackson County Board of Education quotes Gum Springs Elementary principal Joshua Todd saying, "Ms.Rogers already plays such an integral role in our leadership team here at Gum Springs and she will undoubtedly continue to make an impact on the students, staff and families we serve in this community.”

Rogers started working as a teacher in the Jackson County School System in 2001 as a kindergarten teacher at Benton Elementary School before moving to East Jackson Elementary School in 2003.  Rogers worked as a third-grade teacher, STEM teacher, Gifted teacher, and Gifted Coordinator at EJES.  She was also named the EJES Teacher of the Year in 2005 and 2011 and GSES Support Person of the Year in 2023, as well as being recognized with the Georgia Office of Student Achievement Innovation in Teaching Award in 2017.

Rogers says in the press release, “I have been fortunate to work with many wonderful mentors, colleagues, students, and families during my career with JCSS, and I am honored for the opportunity to continue to serve in a new capacity."

She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Early Child Education and a Master of Arts in Language and Literacy Education from the University of Georgia, and a Specialist degree in Curriculum and Instruction from Piedmont College. Officials say she will complete the University of West Georgia Tier 1 Leadership Program in July.
