Girls soccer: Lady Knights keep pace in 8-4A

OAKWOOD, Ga. — Johnson won its second straight Region 8-4A match with a 10-0 rout of Cedar Shoals on Tuesday at The Dungeon.

Lizbeth Rivera and Angelique Zelaya each registered a hat trick while Hailey Herrera added a pair of goals for the Lady Knights. Keily Gonzalez and Vicky Arteaga scored one goal apiece for Johnson.

The win for the Class 4A ninth-ranked Lady Knights (9-2-1, 7-1 Region 8-4A) allowed them to keep pace for third-place with Walnut Grove (7-5, 5-1 Region 8-4A).

Johnson holds its playoff fate in its hands coming down the stretch. The Lady Knights travel to eighth-ranked Cherokee Bluff (9-3, 6-0 Region 8-4A) on Thursday and then close out their region schedule at Walnut Grove next Tuesday.
