A second suspect was arrested on Wednesday in Athens in connection with the fatal shooting of a three-year-old child on Friday, March 8.

The Athens-Clarke County Police Department said in an updated press release Thursday that Jayden Brown, 16, of Athens, was arrested Wednesday with assistance from the Clarke County Sheriff's Office.

That follows the previous arrest of Julian Cubillos, 17, of Lawrenceville, in that case.

Police are still searching for Dakious Echols, 18, and Desmontrez Mathis, 22, both of Athens.

All of the suspects are being charged or sought for malice and felony murder, four counts of aggravated assault and violation of the Georgia Street Gang Terrorism and Prevention Act.

A GoFundMe page identified the child who was killed as "Baby Dro."

"Baby Dro’s life was taken from him too soon during a drive-by shooting while just watching television with his sibling, who was also hit by a bullet," the GoFundMe page reads.

The sibling was treated at the hospital for non-life-threatening injuries. The page is seeking funds to move the child's mother, Shanita Smith, to a home that is more safe. It had raised over $23,000 as of Thursday afternoon.

The investigation into the shooting is active and ongoing.

Athens Police are asking the public, and in particular friends or individuals who know the subjects' location, to contact Detective Johnson at (762) 400-7060, or by email at [email protected].

Crime Stoppers is offering up to a $2,000 reward for information leading to the arrest of the person or persons involved in this incident. Anonymous tips can be made by calling the Crime Stoppers Tip Line at (706) 705-4775.
