A Suwanee man wanted for multiple domestic-related felonies was arrested by Gwinnett County Police after being involved with two vehicle collisions.

An officer from the North Precinct was reportedly called to a domestic dispute Thursday at 1:30 p.m. at a home on Brooke Fall Landing in unincorporated Suwanee where a woman said she had been assaulted, threatened and held at gunpoint by her husband in their home over the past two days.

Her husband, Lance Bradley Nelson, 47, was armed with at least two firearms, a rifle and a handgun. The incident allegedly began when a verbal argument between the couple turned into physical assault, authorities said.

The wife fled the residence to a neighbor’s home on March 7 for help while Nelson was distracted, as she told authorities she felt as though she could not safely leave her home.

That same day, Nelson  fled the home in a gray Mercedes SUV. Nearby officers found the suspect’s vehicle and tried to initiate a traffic stop, but the suspect sped away. The Aviation Unit was requested to help track the vehicle's movements.

Nelson was then seen just before 5 p.m. trying to enter a parking deck at Gas South Arena in Duluth. After discovering the deck was closed, he proceeded towards Sugarloaf Parkway and  was met by two marked patrol cars who tried to disable his vehicle.

Nelson’s vehicle collided with both patrol cars, lost a tire and began to spin. The suspect eventually turned right onto Sugarloaf Parkway and collided with a gray passenger car and a pickup truck.

After the second collision, Nelson crawled out of his car from the passenger side and ran from the scene. He was pursued and taken into custody in front of a nearby hotel. The motorists of the other vehicles did not have any apparent injuries.

Nelson was charged with Kidnapping, False Imprisonment, Possession of a Firearm during the Commission of Certain Crimes, Aggravated Assault, Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon, Family Violence Battery, Fleeing or Attempting to Elude a Police Officer, Reckless Driving, and Obstruction. Following his arrest, he was taken to a nearby hospital for minor injuries he sustained in the collisions. After being discharged from the hospital, he will be booked into the Gwinnett County Jail.
Lance Bradley Nelson,47, of Suwanee.
