Baseball: Bluff drops to No. 2; Hab, Buford, EaFo, NHall move up in rankings

If last week's results in Region 8-4A are an indication of how the schedule will play out, buckle up. 

Top-ranked Cherokee Bluff lost to Walnut Grove, 7-4, in eight innings last week. Chestatee then knocked off Walnut Grove 3-1.

(MONDAY'S PREP BASEBALL SCHEDULE)

The Bears (9-2) 's loss to Walnut Grove dropped them from the top spot to No. 2 in the latest Coaches Box rankings. Walnut Grove moved up one spot to No. 8. 

North Hall (11-1), whose only loss is to Walnut Grove (8-4), has won four straight since then and moved up two spots to No. 4. The Trojans begin a three-game series this week with East Forsyth (10-3), who also moved up one spot to No. 6, has won the last five of six games. Their only loss in the span is to No. 5 North Oconee (7-4), 10-6. 

Five of the top 10 teams in Class 4A are from Region 8-4A

In Class 3A, Dawson County (7-4, 1-2) holds on to the No. 10 spot. The Tigers have won seven of the last nine games but dropped two of three to Region 7-3A mate West Hall last week. 

In Class 6A, Habersham Central (10-1, 3-0) continues turning heads across the state. The Raiders have won seven in a row, including three straight wins to open Region 8-6A play undefeated. 

In Class 7A, Buford (6-4) has won two in a row and moved up one spot to No. 6.
