Steven Mcintyre, CTAE: Audio Video and Film Tech at Chestatee High School was recently named one of the ten finalists for the 2025 Georgia Teacher of the Year.
A Facebook post from the Georgia Department of Education said State Superintendent Richard Woods surprised McIntyre at the high school to inform him of his selection.
McIntyre along with the other finalists will meet with a panel of judges for formal speeches and interviews before the teacher of the year is selected.
GDOE officials said McIntyre holds a bachelor's and master's degree from the University of Georgia and will complete a Specialist in Education degree there in May 2024.
Before becoming a teacher McIntyre worked for 12 years in the Broadcoast television industry, Spending much of his career at WAGA FOX 5 Atlanta.
“He invests time and energy into caring for each of his students, developing their character and integrity, and preparing them to be successful adults,” the post said.
McIntyre also serves on the School Improvement Team and the Blended Learning Support Team and can be found substitute driving morning and afternoon bus routes at Chestatee High School.
McIntyre was named the 2023-2024 Hall County Teacher of the Year.
