Local Habersham County resident Tori Williams recently started work as the county's new risk manager.

Williams is a long-term resident of Habersham County and comes to county government from Stephens County, where she held the position of human resources director, according to spokesman Rob Moore.

During her tenure at Stephens County, she emphasized risk management and obtained all of the safety certifications available through Local Government Risk Management.

Williams is familiar with ACCG/IRMA, Habersham County’s liability insurance provider, and all the systems and processes used for reporting claims, Moore said Friday.

Williams has more than 20 years of software implementation, software training and project management, formerly served as customer service and help desk manager for the Georgia Department of Education, and she has traveled abroad and throughout the United States managing software implementations.

She led the update and rewrite of the Stephens County Employee Handbook, and moved the county’s human resources to digital record keeping. She also was the lead in the implementation of the employee evaluation application.

In her spare time, Williams enjoys gardening, drawing and painting, sewing and embroidery, designing and making jewelry, horseback riding, and riding motorcycles, camping and travel.
