School officials and law enforcement said Thursday morning that there is no credibility to rumors of a threat against Cherokee Bluff High School.
School District Superintendent Will Schofield issued a statement in response to rumors circulated on social media.
"Both school officials and law enforcement have investigated thoroughly and find no credibility to these rumors," Schofield said. "We will continue to make safety our first priority and we look forward to another great day at Cherokee Bluff High School."
No other details about the alleged threat were released.
A social media post later that same morning by the Hall County Sheriff's Office also stated that the threat was not credible, but said that additional deputies have been placed on campus at the high school.
"Based on what we can determine at this point in our investigation, social media rumors of a threat to Cherokee Bluff High School have risen from several unrelated incidents that have happened over an extended period of time at the school," Hall County Sheriff's Office Spokesman Derreck Booth said. "There is no evidence of any credible threats to CBHS."
