The Lakeview Academy boys and the Rabun County girls both advanced to the next round in the GIAA and GHSA Class A Division 1 playoffs on Saturday.

However, they were the only ones out of seven northeast Georgia area teams in action to advance in the state playoffs on Saturday.

The third-seeded Lions looked solid in taking a 52-34 win over John Milledge in the quarterfinals of the GIAA Class 3A playoffs at First Presbyterian Day School in Macon.

The Rabun County girls, the Region 8-A D1 champions, pulled away late to beat Mount Pisgah 70-57 in the second round of the Class A D1 playoffs.

It was a rough day for everyone else. All four Region 7-3A teams, includingLumpkin County and Dawson County, were swept out of the second round just three days after sweeping out Region 5-3A in the first round.

Lumpkin County and Dawson County both were on the road against the top two teams in the classification. The Indians were routed by defending Class 3A state champion and No. 1-ranked Sandy Creek, 92-22, while Dawson County took on No. 2 Douglass-Atlanta and was eliminated in a 79-42 loss in Atlanta.

Buford also struggled in a 54-48 loss to Norcross at The Buford Arena in the Class 7A playoffs.

The Towns County boys were knocked off by Manchester, 71-58, in Class A Division 2.

The Rabun County boys also could not get out of the second round, falling 71-54 to Mount Pisgah in Tiger.
