The Georgia Bureau of Investigation released Thursday morning the name of a man who was found dead Wednesday afternoon in Towns County.

The GBI identified the man as Trevonte Jamal Shubert-Helton, 29, of Sautee Nacoochee.

An investigation determined Shubert-Helton was discovered by a hiker at the Swallow Creek Wildlife Management Area Wednesday afternoon. The hiker then called Towns County 911 to alert authorities about the man's death.

The preliminary investigation reportedly indicated the death was an isolated incident and Shubert-Helton was by himself at the location.

His body will be taken to the GBI Medical Examiner's Office for an autopsy.

The investigation is active and ongoing.
