A man from Cumming is dead after a crash in western Forsyth County Thursday afternoon.

Forsyth County Sheriff's Office officials said Friday morning that the crash happened around 2:40 p.m. Thursday at the intersection of Bethelview Road and Aaron Sosebee Road/Olde Town Lane just west of Cumming.

Officials said Peyton Kirby, age 23, was driving a motorcycle southbound on Bethelview Road when a 2022 Hyundai Genesis SUV driving on Aaron Sosebee Road failed to yield at the stop sign and entered Bethelview Road. The motorcycle then hit the SUV.

Kirby was pronounced dead at the scene. Officials said while the case remains under investigation, failure to yield is believed to be the main cause of the crash.

The identity of the SUV driver has not been released.
