The official start of the Georgia High School Association baseball season, as well as the GIAA and GAPPS, was supposed to begin on Monday. But Mother Nature had other plans as heavy rains washed out the entire day's schedule.

Teams from around the state and in northeast Georgia will get a second shot at trying to get the 2024 campaign underway on Tuesday.

Only three games, however, will involve area teams taking on each other. Chestatee and West Hall were set to open at Spartans Field in Oakwood on Monday. but the rains forced the teams to move the game to Tuesday and to Chestatee. East Jackson and White County will meet in Cleveland. Commerce will play host to Banks County in Homer.

North Hall will now open at Lynn Cottrell Field against Newton after Monday's showdown with Jackson County was moved to Feb. 21. Gainesville was also set to open on Monday at home; Big Red will hit the road against Prince Avenue in Athens on Tuesday.

Another intriguing matchup on Tuesday has Jefferson opening the season at home against Seckinger in a battle of playoff teams from last season.
