The Forsyth County School System recently announced the five finalists for their 2024 teacher of the year.
A press release from the school system announced Dawn Chandler, Kelsey Fusco, Christina Hart, Dawn James and Jennifer White as the finalists.
Dawn Chandler works as a first-grade teacher at Johns Creek Elementary School. Chandler began teaching in 1993 and she has been with FCS since 2015.
Chandler received her bachelor’s degree from Delaware State University, master’s degree from Salisbury State University and specialist’s degree from Kaplan University.
Kelsey Fusco is a science teacher at South Forsyth High School. Fusco began teaching in 2011 and has been with FCS since 2013.
Fusco received her bachelor’s degree from Husson University.
Music teacher Christina Hart is employed at Poole’s Mill Elementary School. Hart's teaching career began in Florida in 2006 and she joined FCS in 2020.
Hart received her bachelor’s degree from Florida State University, her master’s degree from Stetson University and specialist’s degree from Augusta University.
Dawn James is an eighth-grade teacher at Lakeside Middle School. Dawn started teaching in 2007 and began working with FCS in 2010.
James received her bachelor’s degree from North Georgia College and Juris Doctorate from Mercer University.
Jennifer Smith is a Dual Language Immersion Kindergarten teacher at Brandywine Elementary School. Smith began teaching in 2005 and joined FCS in 2015.
Smith received her bachelor’s degree from the University of Georgia and her master’s degree and concentration in DLI from Georgia State University.
