The official start of the Georgia High School Association baseball season, as well as the GIAA and GAPPS, begins on Monday around the state and in northeast Georgia.
As expected, there are no region games on the slate, but there are several interesting opening tilts.
However, with the heavy rains that have moved through the state and the area on Monday, several already have been rescheduled.
Flowery Branch travels to Ivey-Watson Field to take on Gainesville, with both teams sporting new coaches. Buford plays host to Grayson in a matchup of a pair of Sweet 16 teams in Class 7A in 2023.
North Hall was set to play host to Jackson County at Lynn Cottrell Field. But rains pushed the matchup to Wednesday, Feb. 21 at North Hall.
Cherokee Bluff, a quarterfinalist in Class 4A in 2023, entertains Class 7A and 2023 Region 6-7A champion Denmark, a Sweet 16 team last season, at home.
Chestatee and West Hall were set to open at Spartans Field in Oakwood on Monday. but the rains forced the teams to move the game to Tuesday and to Chestatee.
