The Gainesville Police Department is investigating a Tuesday night shooting that injured two 13-year-olds.

In a Facebook post, Gainesville Police officials said officers responded at around 9 P.M. to the 600 block of Central Avenue to reports of a shooting.

Multiple juveniles are reported to have been engaged in a fight at which point weapons were pulled.

“Those firearms may or may not have been real, or they could have been airsoft or BB-type guns,” Lieutenant Kevin Holbrook said. “We did locate some of those in the area.”

Officials said two juveniles received minor injuries in the leg by the gunfire.

Both were transported to a local hospital in stable condition.

The Gainesville Police Department encourages the public to never leave firearms in vehicles. Guns stored in cars are often stolen in car break-ins.

Anyone with information on this case is asked to contact GPD.
