One of the most fabled races in NASCAR lore was the first one to take members of several NASCAR series out of the continental United States for the first time.  It involved 32 cars and drivers and a trip to the land down under.

On this week's show, our intrepid trio takes a look back at the 1988 Goodyear International 500k at the legendary "ThunderDome", aka Calder Park Raceway in Keilor, Victoria, Australia.  Along with Neil Bonnett, Bobby Allison, Kyle Petty, Dave Marcis, and Michael Waltrip, one legendary Dawsonville, Georgia throttle-stomper made the trip to compete.

No, not that one.  It was none other than second generation racer David Sosebee who made the journey and was in the running until a multi-car crash scuttled his chances.

Want to see the race yourself?  Watch it here.

Along with racing at the ThunderDome, our HLT crew talkes about Gordon Lightfoot and other famous Canadians, the wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald, Amelia Earhart and the upcoming Busch Clash at the Coliseum.

WDUN will carry live MRN Radio coverage of Sunday's NASCAR Cup Series Busch Light Clash at the Los Angeles Coliseum, beginning at 6 pm on 102.9 FM, AM 550 and streaming live on AccessWDUN.
