Several regular season season champs were decided on Tuesday. However, there is still plenty to play for, and for some teams, region titles are still within their grasp.

The Gainesville boys are still in the thick of the Region 8-6A title chase. The Red Elephatns (9-13, 7-2 Region 8-6A) have won three in a row and sit 1 1/2 games behind No. 2 Shiloh (19-4, 9-1 Region 8-6A) heading into their matchup at Lanier (9-13, 4-5 Region 8-6A). Gainesville and Shiloh will close out the season on Feb. 9 in Snellville.

Meanwhile, the Banks County (14-9, 5-3 Region 8-2A) and Union County (18-4, 5-2 Region 8-2A) boys are still locked in a three-way duel with Athens Academy (17-5, 5-3 Region 8-2A) for first place. Union County knocked off Banks County on Tuesday to sweep their season series while Athens Academy was upset by Providence Christian (13-9, 4-3 Region 8-2A), who is now just a game back of first place.

The Leopards will play host to Athens Academy on Friday while Union County has East Jackson heading to Blairsville.

In Region 8-A Division 1, the Rabun County girls (17-5, 4-1 Region 8-A D1) will play host to Athens Christian (17-3, 5-0 Region 8-A D1) with the Lady Wildcats looking to pull into a tie for first place with just two more games to follow. However, the Lady Eagles, who beat Rabun County in their first meeting, can clinch the region title with a win.
