A longtime Oakwood-area restaurant, Smokehouse BBQ and Catering, is now officially closed according to its owner.
Rae Vaughn told AccessWDUN Sunday afternoon that the business closed Saturday afternoon after more than 40 years in business at its location at the corner of Atlanta Highway and Ga. 53.
Vaughn did not initially disclose the reason for the closure. She said she is retaining ownership of the business but does not currently have plans for re-opening.
Vaughn is a second-generation owner of the business, which has operated on the property since 1978, first as a catering business, then as a walk-up stand before ultimately remodeling and moving into an existing building on the property in 2017.
