A Duluth man was arrested and accused of breaking into a Mercedes Benz Car dealership and stealing a car in early December.

The Gwinnett County Police Department says  Kaderries Johnson, 24, was first seen walking around the dealership during the early morning hours on Dec. 3 and allegedly attempted to get into the showroom. Johnson then was seen walking into the dealership's service area and took a bottle of water. Later, an officer found Johnson walking in the location’s parking lot at 2:40 a.m. and warned him that he could be arrested for loitering and prowling. At the time, the officer did not know that Johnson may have entered the building.

Detectives believe the suspect was looking for where the key fobs to the cars were kept.

At 9:30 p.m. reportedly returned to the dealership and was seen walking around and pulling on the building's doors, one of which was open. He was confronted by two employees and left.

The next day on Dec. 4, Johnson once again returned to the dealership, walked around, and was eventually criminally trespassed from the business by Gwinnett Police Officers. Johnson also reportedly returned on Dec. 5.

On Dec.7 Johnson allegedly returned to the business again and stole three key fobs and a 2025 Mercedes Benz that was in the dealership’s parking lot.

On December 9, Gwinnett Police detectives were informed that Warwick Police had impounded the stolen Mercedes from a traffic stop in their jurisdiction.  At the time of the traffic stop, the Mercedes had not been reported as stolen. They told detectives that Kaderries Johnson had been driving the stolen Mercedes but had been released at the scene.

Johnson was later found loitering around a Chrysler car dealership by Albany Police on Dec. 11.  He is currently in custody in the Dougherty County jail.  He faces charges of three counts of Burglary in the Second Degree, three counts of Loitering and Prowling, three counts of misdemeanor Theft by Taking, and one count of Motor Vehicle Theft.
