A small commercial fire early Monday morning destroyed the laundry building of the Willow Wood Nursing Facility in Flowery Branch which left residents with nothing.
Arcturus Hospice officials said they are organizing an emergency clothing drive because the fire destroyed the clothes, blankets, and linens of more than 80 residents.
“These residents have lost the most basic necessities, and we are asking for immediate help to provide them with warmth and comfort during this holiday season,” a press release from Arcturus Hospice read. “So many of them do not have family to help replace what was lost.”
Urgently needed items include pants, shirts, sweaters, jackets (all sizes), socks, blankets and packages of unopened men’s and women’s undergarments (all sizes).
Donations can be brought directly to the facility at 4595 Cantrell Road. Those who wish to donate can also call (770) 967-2070.
