The Gainesville Department of Water Resources stopped a sewer spill into an unnamed tributary to Lake Lanier Sunday afternoon.
Gainesville city officials said they received a high-water alarm at a sewer pumping station around 12:21 p.m. and located a wastewater discharge near the 1300 block of Gould Drive at 1:15 p.m.
The spill was stopped at around 1:38 p.m.
DWR estimates about 1,500 gallons reached the tributary.
Officials assessed the area and no dead or stressed aquatic life were found.
According to Gainesville officials, all field parameters for water quality were within state water quality standards.
The Georgia Department of Natural Resources Environmental Protection Division was notified Sunday afternoon and signs were posted.
