While there are only two region matchups on Saturday, both will involve key showdowns.
The Class 2A second-rated Union County boys (PSR ratings by the GHSA) will play host to No. 5 North Cobb Christian in Region 7-2A. Both teams come in red-hot, each riding 6-game win streaks. They are the only two unbeaten teams left in the region and lead Lakeview-Fort Oglethorpe (8-1, 3-1 Region 7-2A) by just one-half game in the early standings.
The Panthers (7-1, 3-0 Region 7-2A) are 4-0 in Blairsville and are averaging 68.25 points/game on offense and yielding just 55.8 ppg on defense on the season. The Eagles (6-1, 3-0 Region 7-2A) are 3-1 on the road so far and are averaging just under 80 ppg (78.4 ppg to be exact) while giving up 59.2 ppg on defense.
The arch-rival North Forsyth and South Forsyth girls will battle for first place in Region 6-6A in Coal Mountain. The Lady Raiders (9-0, 3-0 Region 6-6A) come in ranked fourth in Class 6A in the Speil rankings while the Lady War Eagles (10-1, 4-0 Region 6-6A) are unranked but are riding a 5-game win streak as well.
North Forsyth is yielding just 36.7 ppg on the season while South Forsyth is averaging just 50.3 ppg so far. The winner will take over first place all alone.
