Basketball: Region play opens around the area

The high school basketball is about to kick up a notch as several Northeast Georgia area schools begin region play this week.

Regions 8-6A, 6-6A, 7-5A and 8-4A will tip off on Tuesday night.

Some interesting non-region games are on the slate, including Cherokee Bluff girls traveling to White County. The Lady Bears and Lady Warriors are both 4-2 and expected to be contenders in their respective regions. 

The Gainesville boys have a tough Region 7-5A opener at Johns Creek, and the Habersham Central boys will be tested at home against Rabun Gap.

Banks County at Morgan County, 6 p.m.
Buford at Mountain View, 6 p.m.*
Cherokee Bluff at White County, 6 p.m.
East Forsyth at Walnut Grove, 6 p.m.*
Gainesville at Johns Creek, 6 p.m.* 
Madison County at Flowery Branch, 6 p.m.*
North Forsyth at North Atlanta, 6 p.m.*
Rabun County at East Hall, 6 p.m.
Rabun Gap-Nacoochee at Habersham Central, 6 p.m. 
Tallulah Falls at Towns County, 6 p.m.
West Hall at Jackson County, 6 p.m.
