As the month of December starts, the city of Gainesville is re-launching its annual Holly Jolly Trolley service to connect residents and visitors with the downtown square and Wilshire Trails Park.
The city announced the return of the service on Saturday, saying it will run on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays from 5:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. through December 28.
"The Holly Jolly Trolley will make a continuous 3-mile loop between the historic square in downtown Gainesville to Gainesville Parks & Recreation's Wilshire Wonderland of Lights display at Wilshire Trails Park," the city's website says. "Park at either one of the parking decks...then walk to 106 Spring St. (in front of Kilwins) to board the Holly Jolly Trolley. Ride the route as long as you want – just make sure you're at the right end of the route before service stops at 10 p.m."
The city says trolleys should run roughly every 10 to 15 minutes during operating hours. Each trolley carries 24 passengers and is wheelchair accessible, however the city says pets are not allowed on the trolleys with the exception of service animals.
More details about the trolley service can be found on the city's website or by calling Hall Area Transit at 770-503-3333, extension 2.
