It was a much different night for Northeast Georgia area teams in the second round of the playoffs as opposed to the opening round a week ago. Four of the five teams playing Friday advanced to the quarterfinals.
Buford was dominant from the opening kick in a 42-7 thumping of Lowndes and will host North Gwinnett next week in a rivalry renewed. Jefferson got plenty of revenge on Oconee County, running away with a 42-6 win over the Warriors.
The other two wins were a bit more dramatic. North Hall needed a late comeback and some Brickyard magic to take down Upson-Lee, 27-20. Cherokee Bluff used a lot of defense late to get past Luella, 21-14.
