Officials with the City of Gainesville are now publicly posting their plans for operation and closure during next week's Thanksgiving holiday.
The City of Gainesville, Georgia will observe Thanksgiving Thursday, November 28-Friday, November 29, resulting in unavailability of the following facilities and services:
All adminstrative offices, including those at:
- Gainesville Administration Building
- Gainesville Community and Economic Development Building
- Gainesville Public Safety Complex (Gainesville Police Department + Gainesville Fire Department)
- Gainesville Water Resources Building (Queen City Parkway)
- Gainesville Civic Center (Gainesville Parks & Recreation), etc. (Frances Meadows Aquatics & Fitness Center will be closed)
Gaineesville-Hall County Community Service Center, including:
- Meals on Wheels
- Senior Life Center
- Fingerprinting services
Transportation, including:
- WeGo
Garbage and recycling:
- No garbage or recycling will be picked up Thursday, November 28, therefore customers should put their garbage and recycling curbside by no later than 6:30 a.m. Wednesday, November 27, for early collection.
Leaf collection:
- Curbside leaf collection service will be unavailable Thursday, November 28-Friday, November 29. Zone 1 will be serviced Monday, November 18-Friday, November 22. Officials for the City of Gainesville will return to normal business hours on Monday, December 2.
