The first round of the GHSA playoffs wasn't all that great for Northeast Georgia area teams.
Ten teams of the 16 area teams were eliminated last week, leaving five programs still on the road to Mercedes-Benz Stadium and one, Lanier Christian Academy, playing for a state championship.
The second round of the GHSA playoffs continues on Friday, with several big games across the state, including three on the Jacobs Media airwaves and streaming live on AccessWDUN.com.

Lowndes at Buford — It's a matchup that screams top billing around the state, and the Wolves remain hungry to get back to the elusive state championship game. Oconee County at Jefferson — It's a rematch Jefferson is happy to play. The Warriors knocked off the Dragons in overtime during the Week 12 battle in Watkinsville. This one should be just as good, if not better. Both teams rolled past their first-round opponents. Now, they'll face each other again with a trip to the quarterfinals on the line. Upson-Lee at North Hall — North Hall is just happy to be in the second round of the Class 3A playoffs. Gilmer gave the Trojans all they had and was a few inches away from beating North Hall with a field goal. Now, the Trojans get a very good Upson-Lee team at The Brickyard.
