A home was heavily damaged by a garage fire Sunday evening in Cleveland.
White County and city of Cleveland fire crews both responded to the scene on the 300 block of Underwood Farm Road. While the time the fire was reported is not known, witnesses observed flames coming from the home with crews fighting the fire at around 5:30 p.m.
Once first responders arrived on scene, they discovered 50 percent of the home was in flames. A portion of the home was also under construction, which presented challenges for suppressing the fire, according to a release from White County. While those portions of the home did sustain severe damage, other parts of the stucture were affected by smoke.
Two occupants were inside the home at the time of the incident. Both were able to escape and no inuries were reported.
Authorities blocked a portion of Underwood Farm Road during the early evening hours while crews were fighting the fire.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation by the Georgia State Fire Marhsall’s Office.
