BUFORD, Ga. – East Coweta came to play, but Buford's physicality finally caught up as the Wolves ran away to win 57-9 Friday night at Tom Riden Stadium.
East Coweta scored first at the 4:06 mark on a 49-yard passing play to take a 6-0 lead before Ethan Ervin gave Buford the lead with a 7-yard run late in the period. After a physical start to the second quarter, East Coweta hit a 28-yard field goal to jump back in front, 9-7. From there it was all Wolves as Ty Green caught a 35-yard pass from Dayton Raiola to take the lead for good.
Chris Garland got a pick-six to take a 21-9 lead into the half before Jordan Allen, Justin Baker, Raiola, Ty Green and Jameer Cantrell all scored touchdowns in the second half to add 36 more points to the scoreboard.
Raiola finished 9-for-14 through the air for 227 yards, while the Wolves rushed for 253 yards on the night with seven players rushing for at least 10 yards.
The Wolves will next host Lowndes in the second round of the Class 6A playoffs.
